Konga Travels and Tour, a 21st century lifestyle travel booking agency, has received yet another recognition for its revolutionary offerings and landmark strides in the industry. The company has been named the Most Innovative Agency by global airline, Virgin Atlantic at its Trade Awards Dinner held in Lagos.

The event was held at the prestigious Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, GRA on Wednesday, December 12th, 2019. In attendance was a host of affiliate partners and representatives of travel booking agencies in Nigeria.

Equally important, the event was hosted to commemorate Virgin Atlantic’s 18 years of operations in Nigeria.

At the event, Shai Weiss, Global CEO of Virgin Atlantic, who was visiting Nigeria for the first time, showered encomiums on Konga Travels. Weiss described the company as a digital, technology-driven and innovative travel agency that has remained in the forefront of ensuring seamless movement for Nigerians across all social strata.

‘‘Konga Travels has shown great innovativeness in leveraging technology to bridge the broadband deficiencies in Nigeria by ensuring that all Nigerians can access cutting-edge, world class travel booking services. In addition to its online booking services, Konga Travels has rolled out over 25 physical stores or touch-points to reach the unreached and under-served prospective travellers across the nooks and crannies of Nigeria. Konga Travels is a company to watch,’’ Weiss declared.

Also speaking at the event, Commercial Manager, Nigeria, Justin Bell hailed Konga Travels for its digital-first approach to doing business, which he noted, had distinguished the company. He described the company’s remarkable strides in the industry within one year of full operations as a sign of greater things to come for the travel booking industry in Nigeria.

Receiving the award, Vice President, Konga Travels, Eric Nana expressed gratitude to Virgin Atlantic for the recognition. He disclosed that Konga Travels, despite being a new entrant into the industry, is determined to raise the standard of offerings in the travel booking industry, while offering travellers in Nigeria and beyond a satisfying and revolutionary experience.

‘‘At Konga Travels, we are only just getting started. Indeed, our customers are on a journey of discovery as we have so many more exciting, rewarding and value-adding initiatives that will be unveiled in the New Year. We are the first travel booking agency to offer Nigerians an omnichannel experience which enables them to book and confirm their flights either online or offline. This is in addition to our growing physical store presence which adds a warm, human face to the relationship with the customer. We intend to cover Nigeria in a short space of time, even as we roll out other world class programmes we have lined up for our customers,’’ he said.

Nana’s submission found relevance with Wale Ekun, a frequent flyer, who was present at the event.

‘‘This award is indeed well deserved for Konga Travels. I have booked flights to London and Dubai twice through Konga Travels and the experience has been amazing. The courteous manner of the staff, the civilisation as well as the ease and convenience I enjoyed all through the process are unprecedented,’’ he enthused.

Also commending Konga Travels was Patrick Ighodho, a first time flyer through Konga Travels.

‘‘I travelled out of Nigeria for the first time through Konga Travels. It was a wonderful, stress-free experience. From the processing of my visa which the company handled efficiently, through the flight booking process which I started online and later confirmed offline in a Konga Travels store near my residence and to the convenient and timely drop-off at the airport which the company arranged for me; it was an experience I would never forget. Konga Travels is not only innovative but a brand that is already on its way to the top,’’ he concluded.
