A passenger aboard a Kenya Airways flight from Nairobi to Lagos passed away shortly before the aircraft touched down at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday when cabin crew discovered the passenger unresponsive about 20 minutes prior to landing. Crew members administered first aid according to established emergency protocols and training.
Upon arrival at MMIA at 9:41 p.m., the aircraft was met by emergency medical personnel, who formally confirmed the death of the passenger.
In a statement released on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday, Kenya Airways’ Corporate Communications team confirmed the occurrence and expressed deep condolences to the individual’s family and loved ones.
“Kenya Airways is providing the necessary support in close coordination with the deceased’s family, local authorities, and aviation regulators,” the airline stated, while requesting privacy and respect for those affected.
The airline also issued an apology to remaining passengers for any inconvenience or distress caused during the flight.
According to the statement, the remains of the deceased have since been moved to an undisclosed morgue in Lagos as authorities and aviation officials follow up on the situation.
