Rago Local Government Council in Kano State, has procured drugs to contain suspected diphtheria outbreak in Gangarbi community.

The ‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‌Acting Chairman of the council, Yahaya Madatai, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday.

Madatai spoke through the council’s Information Officer, Abdu Abdullahi.

He said that the council had taken necessary measures to contain the suspected outbreak of the disease in Gangarbi and Rogo-Ruma Ward, and also prevent its spread to other communities, while also providing emergency assistance to residents of the area as part of the efforts to contain the suspected disease.

Madatai urged the residents to cooperate with the government and health officials to ensure the success of measures being taken to control the suspected outbreak.

He also called on residents to give health officials full cooperation to enable them to carry out their duties effectively.

The council’s Head of Health Services, Ahmed Getso, said that health officials had visited Gangarbi to investigate the situation and take appropriate emergency measures.

Getso said that the officials had also provided the necessary emergency assistance to help contain the suspected disease and prevent its spread as health officials continue to monitor the situation and work closely with residents to protect public health across the 10 wards of the local government area.
