A 22-year-old unemployed man, Emeka Ejiro, was on Thursday arraigned at a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ court, Lagos State, for allegedly stealing a carton of frozen turkey worth N13,000.

The accused, whose address is unknown, is facing a one count charge of stealing.

Prosecutor, Insp. Akpan Ikem told the court that the accused committed the offence on Dec. 18 at Olowololowo market at Morogbo area of Badagry.

Uko alleged that the accused stole the item from the complainant, Mrs Fisayo Ojo.

“The accused went to the shop and when he noticed that no one was in the shop, he took a carton of frozen turkey away from the shop.

“Before he could get away, the complainant apprehended him,” he said.

Uko said the offence contravened the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the accused pleaded not guilty to the one count charge.

Chief Magistrate, Mr Jimoh Adefioye, granted the accused bail for N50,000 and a surety, who must provide evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

The Magistrate later adjourned the case to Jan 26, for hearing.
