A High Court sitting in Akwa Ibom on Thursday sentenced Uduak Akpan to death by hanging the first accused in the murder of Iniubong Umoren.

Justice Bassey Nkanang handed down the sentence, while Uduak’s father, Frank Akpan, and sister, Anwan Bassey (2nd and 3rd accused) were discharged and acquitted.

Recall that Umoren, a graduate of Philosophy, University of Uyo, was killed on April 2021 while  seeking for job and awaiting mobilisation for the compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.
