Gunmen Saturday night invaded the home of Mr Frankiline Obi Chairman Ward 4 of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Omoku , headquarters of Ogba Egbema Ndoni local government area, Rivers State, and beheaded him alongside his first son, 18-year-old Master Bestman and Chief Obi’s wife , Ihuoma.
The state Police Commissioner, Mr. Musa Kimo, who visited their residence to commiserate with them, said he was pained by the incident. He called for more collaboration between communities and the Police to wipe out miscreants and hoodlums from the state.
A visibly said Mr. Kimo regretted the inability of the family to contacted the police while the assailants were carrying out their evil plot.
“Probably if they called the Police the killers could have been arrested. At least they were there for about twenty minutes before they left”, he said.
No theory has been advanced by the police as to the motive and persons behind the act but community sources said it must be politically-motivated. Rivers State has been a hotbed of upheavals since last year’s general elections.
