Beneficiaries of the free food initiative

The Advocates for Positive Development (APD) Operation Free Food (OFF Hunger) Initiative is a one-day food kitchen that is targeted at feeding 1000 beneficiaries including children, the elderly and the less privileged in communities across each of the states in the federation.

The APD food kitchen programme is part of APD’s contribution to the society in support of the federal government’s resolve to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the fight against hunger and malnutrition.

The Group Director of APD, March Oyinki, stated during the event on Saturday, August 30, 2025 that the OFF Hunger Free Food Kitchen Initiative focuses on feeding beneficiaries with decent well prepared meals from leading and reputable food vendors in the community or are in close proximity to where the event is holding. The event will be hosted in an open or public facility within the community. The charity programme is a drive to encourage benevolence of members of the public towards the less privileged and to harness societal cooperation in collaboration with wealthy Individuals and corporate organisations in the fight against hunger.

The Advocates for Positive Development (APD) is embarking on its first operation free food programme in the Sangotedo community in the Lekki/Epe corridor in Lagos. The non-for-profit, non governmental organization, provided food to children, the elderly and the less privileged to people in Sangotedo. The community leaders and Bale of Sangotedo Town, Chief Ajibola Olufunmi lauded the OFF Hunger programme and made a passionate appealed, calling on the APD to contour to carry out more of such programme in Sangotego town and its surrounding communities.

Chief Olufunmi attributed the cause of hunger to the declining farming culture by the citizens and the apparent lack of awareness of the causes of hunger in the society, as well as the government’s non involvement in agriculture. He believes that hunger can be reduced in the society to its barest minimum,  but firstly, more people must begin to engage in agriculture. Therefore, he also called on the government to increase its participation in agriculture for the country to effectively tackle hunger.

Advocates for Positive Development is open to collaborate with kind hearted individuals and philanthropic organizations that are willing to donate packs of foods to support the OFF Hunger initiative, which will be a periodic exercise conducted in all the States across the country, with the conviction that with the combine efforts of like minded people. we can significantly touch more lives and bring about meaning reduction in hunger in our immediate communities.
