The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 2018 Governor Seriake Dickson’s Football Tournament on Tuesday said it had concluded plans to conduct the draws and distribution of jerseys to teams participating in the second edition.

The Media Director of the tournament, Mr Daniel Alabrah, who made the disclosure in Yenagoa, added that the draws and jerseys distribution would hold on Wednesday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the N11 million prize money competition was strictly for football clubs and tertiary institutions in Bayelsa.

Alabrah said that the official draws ceremony fixed to hold at DSP Alamieyeseigha Banquet Hall, Government House in Yenagoa was expected to have coaches and captains of all registered community football teams in the state.

“Others expected include sports journalists, Bayelsa Football Association (BFA), Bayelsa Referees Association and other stakeholders,’’ he said in a statement.

The new kickoff date would be made known after the official draws ceremony.

The competition, tagged “Restoration Cup 2018’’, will be played strictly on knockout basis.

According to Mr Ono Akpe, the Director-General of the competition, only the final two teams will emerge from the eight local council areas of the state.

The round of sixteen, will take place at the brand new turf of the Samson Siasia Sports Complex.

“The prize money remains the same (N11 million) as at the maiden edition in 2017. The winners will get N5 million, N3 million for the second best team, and N2 million for the third best team.

“Consolation prizes include N500,000 for the fourth best team, N200,000 for the best behaved team, N100,000 each for the Best Goalkeeper, Highest Goal Scorer and the Most Valuable Player,’’ he said.
