The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) rescued no fewer than six victims of Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) from a deadly container accident.

The FRSC Corps Marshal, Malam Shehu Mohammed said this in a statement by the Corps Public Education Officer (CPEO) Mr Olusegun Ogungbemide on Monday in Abuja.

Mohammed commended the efforts of FRSC Rescue and Emergency Response team for a rare demonstration of bravery, professionalism, and resilience after successfully rescuing the victims.

He said that one of the crashes which occurred as a result of break failure happened at 10:50hrs involving two containerised trucks on the Apapa-Wharf route near Flour Mill, 6km from Mile 2, Lagos State.

“Crash investigation report submitted by the rescue team reveals that four people all males, were involved in the crash.

“One was rescued with injuries, including bruises and cuts, while the remaining three survived the crash unhurt.

“Two vehicles were involved, a red Mack truck and green Mack truck all commercial.

“The second crash which involved a Toyota Corolla with registration number LSD293HJ, and a Mack truck occurred on Euro 65 -Signal Baracks route, Mile 2 Oke, Lagos State.

“The crash involved two people in a Toyota Corolla saloon car.

“The victims were rescued alive by the proactiveness of FRSC rescue team after the Mack truck (40 feet container truck) crashed and landed on the saloon car, “he said.

The FRSC boss said that the successes achieved through these proactive approaches were recorded at the expense of corps’ earlier directives to operatives.

This, he said was to assert high level of professionalism and promptness to rescue of crash victims as the end of the year travels gather momentum.

The FRSC corps marshal charged drivers to maintain minimum safety standards while admonishing fleet operators to ensure that their drivers were subjected to adequate training.

This, he added, was so as to acquaint them with the basics of contemporary dynamics of safe road use.
