Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri has pledged to deliver Adamawa for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
Fintiri who formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) two weeks ago, said this at the APC national secretariat
He spoke after a closed-door meeting with Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, the APC National Chairman and members of its National Working Committee (NWC).
He said the visit was to reaffirm his total commitment to the success of President Tinubu and all APC candidates in the coming 2027 general elections.
Fintiri assured that his state would deliver not less than 85 per cent of the total votes to the party.
He expressed optimism that given the sterling performance of the Tinubu-led administration, Nigerians from all parts of the country would vote to re-elect him in 2027.
“We have fully aligned at the moment to APC, because it’s a home return for most of us, today I’m here officially to pay a courtesy visit on the party’s national chairman and the members of its NWC.
“The visit is to further pledge my loyalty to the party and to assure that we have come to work and ensure that we also deliver on the electoral value.
“Judging by the work done by President Tinubu, he deserves a second term, and I think it’s going to be smooth,” the governor said.
He added that though the policies Tinubu initiated were harsh, Nigerians would vote for him to ensure his re-election.
According to him, the policies and programmes of the Tinubu-led administration is already yielding positive result as the country is working on the right direction.
“With Tinubu as Nigeria’s president, there is light at the end of the tunnel,” he said.
Earlier, Yilwatda, in his remarks, commended Fintiri for defecting to the party, describing him as “a fitted political maestro”, who has brought great value to the APC.
“Fintiri is a fitted political maestro and everybody knows the value he has brought to the politics of the North-East in terms of coordination and bringing new life to Adamawa.
“In terms of project and development, what he has done is unbelievable, so bringing him into the APC, is one of the best actions that we are having in recent times.
“We want to welcome him to where he rightly belongs, he is a progressive with a progressive mind, he wouldn’t have settled anywhere else than the APC.
“In the party, his policies would be best appreciated, and fit into the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu,” Yilwatda said.
Yilwatda while reacting to the crisis in opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections, said it was not the duty of the APC to organise the opposition.
He advised opposition parties to organise themselves to be able to compete, saying the APC would however be happy if they failed to do that.
“It is not our duty to organise opposition political parties, our duty is to ensure we win the election, so we can’t go and start organising, funding and building the opposition.
“It is a competition, we are presenting our scorecard to Nigerians who believe in us,” the APC national chairman said.
He added that the APC had been accepted by Nigerians, adding that the outcome of the recently conducted council elections in parts of the country attested to that.(NAN)
