Exit of Ministers: Jonathan Tweaks Cabinet

Admin October 22, 2014

goodluck-jonathanPresident Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday reshuffled his cabinet to fill spaces left by ministers and other aides who resigned to seek electoral posts in the forthcoming 2015 general.

The Minister of State 2 for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Nurudeen Mohammed, now takes over as the Supervising Minister of Information pending the appointment of a substantive minister as replacement for Labaran Maku, who is contesting for the governorship seat in Nasarawa State.

Jonathan further asked the Minister of Special Duties, Taminu Turaki, to supervise the Ministry of Labour and Productivity following the exit of Chief Emeka Wogu just as the Minister of Defence, Alhaji Aliyu Guasu, now continues with the job of the office of Minister of State for Defence, which was occupied by Obanikoro. Obanikoro has begun subtle campaigns for the Lagos governorship election.

Jonathan also asked the Minister of State1 for Foreign Affairs, Prof. Viola Onwuliri, to take over as the substantive Minister of State for Education, a position from which Nyesom Wike resigned to pursue the governorship seat in Rivers State.

The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Dr. Stephen Oru, will combine his responsibilities with those of the Minister of State for Niger Delta vacated by Dr. Darius Ishaku

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Olusegun Aganga, will combine his duties with those of the Minister of State previously occupied by Samuel Ortom.

The reshuffling according to Mohammed, was done at the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by Jonathan.
