Ex-FUTA Vice Chancellor, Gateman Kidnapped

Admin June 23, 2015

ALBERT ILEMOBADEThe Police have confirmed the abduction of a former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Professor Albert Ilemobade.

The septuagenarian was reportedly kidnapped at his Ijapo Estate residence in Akure alongside his gateman by dare-devil gunmen who immediately ferried him away to an unknown destination. But police authorities said they have intensified manhunt raising hope of early reprieve for the man and his family.

The house-help in the family house raised the alarm that the former VC had been taken away by unknown gunmen who made away with the professor’s car which was later abandoned along Ijare road in Ifedore Local Government Area of the state.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Wole Ogodo said policemen had started investigation and manhunt of the kidnappers.

Professor Albert Ilemobade, was Vice Chancellor of FUTA between 1987 and1995.

Family members said they have no clue as to the persons behind the act as the Professor had no known enemies neither was he struggling over any matter with anyone.
