EFCC operative collapses, dies on Lagos street

Yange lying on the street

An operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) identified as Remedy Sylvanus Yange has been found dead after collapsing on a street in Lagos State on Sunday.

He was found lying face-up on the street, his right hand on his chest with his handbag by his side. At the point of death, he was decked in a wine colour outfit and was said to have slumped suddenly and died before help could come.

Passers-by who searched his small carry-on bag under police supervision found his EFCC ID card and other personal materials.

The officer reportedly slumped abruptly while on a leave from work to spend time with his family who stays in Lagos.

Yange who was working at the Benue Office of the anti-graft body was in Lagos on a short vacation to be with his family.

He was said to be an outstanding operative known for his involvement in the investigation and prosecution of many fraudulent cases.

EFCC spokesperson, Mr. Dele Oyewale confirmed the incident, adding that an investigation is underway to unravel the circumstances behind their late officer’s demise.
