The Sango-Ota Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has advised motorists to overtake only when necessary, in order to make the festive period crash-free.

Mr Adekunle Oguntoyinbo, the Unit Commander of FRSC in Sango-Ota, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sango-Ota, Ogun.

Oguntoyinbo stressed the need for motorists to imbibe a good maintenance culture before embarking on any trip, and to also adhere strictly to all traffic rules and regulations.

“Motorists should ensure that their vehicles are in proper condition before putting them on the roads, so that they will not cause unnecessary obstructions,” he said.
The unit commander, however, warned motorists to desist from indiscriminate parking on the highways, so that incoming vehicles would not ram into them.

Oguntoyinbo also implored motorists to use their seat belts and desist from using cell phones while driving, to reduce crashes during the Easter celebrations.

“Our personnel will be on 24-hour patrols on the highways, to check the excesses of motorists and ensure sanity during the period,” the unit commander added.
