Yoruba Nation freedom fighter and activist, Mr.Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has been arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic by Nigerian secret police, the DSS. This is coming barely one month after his Igbo Nation counterpart, Nnamdi Kanu was nabbed in Kenya.

Igboho who was said to be enroute Germany, was arrested Monday night.

He was, however, nabbed by security operatives in the neighboring country.

Security sources said they had been monitoring Igboho from the night he escaped arrest in his Oyo State home.

“We knew all about his plans and movement and those aiding him. We only waited for the right time. His plan was to fly from any West African country to Germany,” the source said.

The Department of State Services, DSS,  had declared Igboho wanted after its operatives carried out a  midnight raid on his residence in the Soka area of Ibadan, Oyo State.

DSS Public Relations Officer, Peter Afunnaya, had advised Igboho to turn himself in to the nearest security.

“Those cheering and eulogizing him may appeal to or advise him to do the needful,” Afunnaya said.

“He should surrender himself to the appropriate authorities. He or anyone can never be above the law.”
