Digitalisation: FG adopts 1Gov cloud platform

Admin November 10, 2025

Bola Tinubu

Nov. 10, 2025

The Federal Government has announced the adoption of 1Gov cloud Enterprise Content Management System (ECMS) platform from laser fish, in furtherance of its digitalisation efforts.

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HoCSF), Mrs. Esther Walson-Jack made this known on Monday in Abuja.

Walson-Jack said that in the last one year, the HoCSF had prepared the foundation for unified digital spine for services.

She said that the digitalisation effort of the Federal Government had yielded remarkable results, adding that it has achieved 59,344 official government emails.

She urged Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government to adopt the platform going forward.

“The MDAs that have not yet begun their ECM implementation should adopt this platform going forward.

“Those that already run an enterprise content management system on a different platform will continue until their migration which is planned for 2026.

“Our decision to migrate from laser fish to the 1Gov cloud ECMS is based on four strategic reasons that are both policy driven and operationally essential for the future of the Nigerian public service,” she said.

She said that 1Gov cloud ECMS was designed as a single government wide platform that allowed MDAs to operate on one digital backbone, one workflow language and one record system.

The HoCSF said that it would break silos, harmonise standards, and also enable seamless inter-MDA collaboration.

She said that the project aligned with a national shift to sovereign digitalisation and directly protected Nigeria’s data platforms and digital future.

According to her, the one government cloud delivers national interoperability and eliminates the fragmentation that comes with isolated deployments.

Earlier, the Managing Director, Galaxy Backbone (GBB), Dr. Ibrahim Adeyanju, said that the government’s digitalisation was gaining momentum, driven by a presidential directive to modernise the civil service.

Adeyanju was represented by GBB’s Executive Director of Finance, GBB, Mohammed Ibrahim.

He said that the initiative was a significant step towards achieving  digitalisation goal, marking a shift from traditional systems to a more efficient, innovative, and transparent approach.

According to him, GBB is committed to ensuring the system’s optimal performance, adding that with a robust infrastructure in place, downtime is expected to be minimal.

He said that the initiative was expected to yield significant benefits in the coming years, transforming the way the civil service operates and improving overall governance.

“Galaxy Backbone is here to work with all agencies. We have been working to make sure this deadline is met.

“The interagency collaboration is what we are experiencing today. We do not want to see any of this fail.

“The Head of Service has been generous enough to ensure that the migration extends to next year for those who are not ready,” he said. (NAN)
