Cultists Suspected in Suicide of UNILAG 300-Level Student

Admin March 21, 2016

UnilagThe University of Lagos (UNILAG) was thrown into mourning at the weekend following the death of its 300-level student of microbiology.

The student who was identified as Jacob Eniola allegedly committed suicide in the school by taking a portion of ‘Sniper’ insecticide on Saturday, March 21.

Witnesses said shortly after taking the suspected poison, the student became uncomfortable and was evacuated to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) almost immediately, but he died on Sunday afternoon.

Fellow students revealed that Jacob was allegedly, ‘forced’ to take the deadly liquid by some suspected cultists who wanted him dead for reasons which could not be ascertained.

Efforts to reach the University spokesman, Toyin Adebule for confirmation failed , but his deputy, Mrs Nonye Oguama, when contacted, stated that she had not been briefed yet on what happened. “I have heard about it, but until I get to the office tomorrow (Monday), I cannot tell what really happened,” she stated.

‘It could be recalled that a female student of the same institution identified as Oluchi Anekwe was electrocuted on her way to her room in Sodeinde hall residence on the campus about six months ago.

Oluchi, was also a 300-level student of Accounting, who hails from Aku in Enugu State. She was electrocuted when a high-tension wire fell on her in front of the hall on the campus. She was immediately rushed to LUTH but was pronounced dead on arrival.
