Creation of Lagos residents database a necessity – Joe Okei-Odumakin

March 14, 2024

The leader of the Centre for Change, (CFC) Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin has said that the mission of the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) to identify and register all residents of Lagos for efficient planning and allocation of resources cannot be underestimated.

She noted that not even at this time of the season that Governors of different States are bracing up to cushion the effect of the economy hardship for their residents by distributing palliatives

Joe Okei-Odumakin said this during a courtesy visit with her team to the General Manager of LASRRA, Mrs. Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola in her office at the LASRRA Headquarters, Ikeja, Lagos.

The visit, which also allowed her to validate their information with LASRRA was aimed at understanding the process of registration as regards the LASRRA 2.0

In the course of updating their details, the pro-democracy Advocate realised that the process is very seamless and used the medium to call out to other residents who have not done this to quickly do so, adding that many benefits await residents who have registered or validated.

“It is a seamless process and I want to implore all residents to be part of it. It is our civic right to register, and when the government is in the know of its demographic location and other basic information to help her plan properly, the basic amenities and other provisions would be made so easy without a hitch. So, let’s agonise less and organise more.

You shall see more of me as far as Advocacy on card pick-ups, registration/validation with LASRRA is concerned”, she stated.

Joe Okei-Odumakin is a Nigerian women’s rights activist, President of the human rights groups, Women Arise for Change Initiative and the Campaign for Democracy

In appreciation, the General Manager LASRRA was enthusiastic about the visit describing Joe Okei-Odumakin as an Amazon that she has always admired from afar.
