Covenant University (CU) has continued to maintain its consistency of qualitative education as it has been listed Nigeria’s overall best university in the latest Times Higher Education (THE) 2025 Rankings.

The THE World University Rankings, often referred to as the THE Rankings, is the annual publication of university rankings by the Times Higher Education magazine.

It is globally rated as authoritative as the ranking were based on empirical indices including research facilities, Faculty and innovativeness.

In the 2025 rankings, the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria came second, while third position was occupied by Landmark University, a sister university to Covenant both owned by Bishop David Oyedepo of Winners Chapel International.

University of Ibadan slipped from its second position in 2024 to place 4th in 2025 rankings.

In the 2025 rankings, THE said it ranked more than 2,000 institutions from 115 countries and territories.

Globally, Oxford holds on to the top spot for the ninth consecutive year, bolstered by significant improvements in industry engagement and teaching. MIT placed second place to displace Stanford, which dropped to sixth.

The ratings were done based on 18 carefully calibrated performance indicators that measure an institution’s performance across five areas: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry, and international outlook.
