An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, ordered the remand in custody of Waheed Ibrahim, 32, charged with allegedly defiling a 4-year old girl.

Ibrahim, a resident of Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, appeared before Chief Magistrate E. Kubeinje on a one count of defilement.

The Chief Magistrate, who did not take the defendant’s plea, ordered his remand in a Correctional facility in Lagos.

Kubeinje subsequently adjourned the matter until Nov. 5, pending legal advice from the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp John Iberedem told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Sept. 3, at 27, Adeba st., Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos.

Iberedem said that Ibrahim defiled the 4- year old by inserting his finger into her vagina.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The section stipulates life imprisonment for anyone found guilty of sexually penetrating any opening in the body of another person, with a part of his body without permission of the person.(NAN)
