Nigeria’s Afrobeat star Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, and Colombian pop sensation Shakira have wrapped up their rehearsals ahead of Sunday’s FIFA World Cup final at MetLife Stadium, home to two National Football League (NFL) teams: the New York Giants and the New York Jets.
Justin Bieber is also to co-headline the final halftime show
Other performers include BTS, Madonna, conductor Gustavo Dudamel, and the PS22 Chorus with Coldplay.
However, for the sake of the World Cup, the venue has temporarily been renamed as New York-New Jersey Stadium.
In a trending video which was also shared on his X handle, Burna Boy embraced Shakira as they prepared at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
He captioned the moment, “Sunday Prep! @shakira See you at the @FIFAWorldCup Final! Dai dai, ikó, dale, allez, let’s go!”
FIFA had primed the duo to headline the World Cup first-ever Super Bowl-style halftime performance. They will perform the official 2026 World Cup anthem, Dai Dai. The duo had previously performed the song at the opening ceremony in Mexico City.
This time, the halftime break will be extended to about 30 minutes for the performance, according to FIFA.
