Buhari’s Ogun rally turns bloody; don’t vote for looters, Oshiomhole tells Kwarans

Buhari rally in Kwara

Buhari rally in Kwara

President Muhammadu Buhari’s presidential rally in Abeokuta, Ogun State took a violent twist as thugs invaded the rally ground pelting at the platform where Buhari and other top APC members were standing. Some thugs had been arrested in the bloody clash.

The rally which held at the Moshood Abiola International Stadium in Abeokuta, the state capital was progressing well until hoodlums surged into the arena with APC supporters and supporters of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

Acolytes of Governor Ibikunle Amosun who were denied tickets by the APC are running on the tickets of the APM and are being backed by the governor. However, the governor is a senatorial candidate of the APC, reminiscent of the situation in Imo State. Violence erupted as thousands of party faithful awaited the arrival of President Muhammed Buhari and other leaders of the APC who were attending another rally in Ilorin, Kwara State.

The violence which started outside the arean soon spread into the venue causing party faithful and journalists to flee to safety. Security operatives were mobilized to quell the uprising.

Meanwhile the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole,  has called on the people of Kwara not to vote for those who have looted the country for 16 years.

Oshiomhole made the call on Monday in Ilorin while addressing a crowd of APC members and supporters at the presidential campaign rally for the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Oshiomhole also  told the people of the state to be wary  of the PDP and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

He appealed to the people of the state to vote massively for the president, saying he had changed the essence of governance in Nigeria.

“While President Buhari is fighting corruption and putting looters in jail, Atiku promises to give amnesty to looters.

“When Buhari says he will protect the Naira and defend Nigeria’s  success economically, PDP promises to pursue wholesale privatisation of Nigeria’s  assets.

“When Buhari promises to protect Nigerian farmers and make Nigerians eat Nigerian food, Atiku promises wholesale, reckless liberalisation that will make Nigeria import food,” Oshiomhole said.

He also told the crowd that the APC was in the state to “ celebrate the end of Bukola Saraki.”

“I am here to see the actual translation of enough is enough, the era of your oppression is over.

“Era of oppression is over, I join you in Kwara to celebrate your freedom,” he said.

Oshiomhole assured the people of the state that with Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq of the APC as the governor of the state, good governance would be delivered.

The state chairman of the party,  Bashir Bolarinwa,  told the crowd that the era of godfatherism was over in the state.

He said that in spite of  Kwara clocking  52 years,  there was nothing to show for this.

“Sadly, Kwara is a typical example of retardation in evolution; this has been due to the machination of a succeeding dynasty that has continue to pauperise the state,” he added.

Bolarinwa added that Kwara was lacking in all spheres of development when compared to states created in 1976 and after.

He said the collective resolve of the people of the state was to end the reign of the oligarchy that had held down the progress of the state for over 16 years.

Bolarinwa therefore called on the people of Kwara to come out to cast their votes for all APC candidates on Saturday.

The highlight  of the campaign rally was the presentation of the APC flag to the governorship candidate, Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq,  by the national chairman of the party.
