Gov. Dikko Radda of Katsina State has said that the late former President Muhammad Buhari will be buried on Tuesday, July 15 by 2pm in his Daura home.

The governor confirmed this in Katsina on Monday while addressing journalists at the government houset.

Aged 82, Buhari died on Sunday at a London clinic where he was receiving treatment, having initially travelled for routine medical check-up in April.

He served as Nigeria’s President from 2015 to 2023, after a distinguished career in the military, including a brief stint as Head of State from 1983 to 1985.

He is survived by his wife, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, and eight children.

The Katsina State governor explained that the burial decision was taken following wider consultations with families and other concerned personalities in London.

He said the body of the former president is expected to arrive Katsina on Tuesday at noon, while the burial will take place around 2 p.m.

Upon his death, many prominent Nigerians including President Bola Tinubu have been paying tributes to the immediate past President whom many described as a courageous leader.
