Buhari, Bazoum hold bilateral talks, to deliberate on security challenges

President Muhammadu Buhari and his Nigerien counterpart Mohammed Bazoum are currently engaged in bilateral talks in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The Nigerien leader is visiting Nigeria for the second time since his election in February 2021.

The two leaders are expected to deliberate on how best to tackle challenges of security and strategic stability affecting the sub-region and the globe.

“While President Bazoum’s visit is expected to last for a few hours, the neighboring leader will be received with full military honours, including a 21-gun salute.

“The relations between Nigeria and Niger are considered a true model of interstate friendship,” an earlier statement issued by the President’s media aide, Malam Garba Shehu, said.

The visiting Nigerien president was also hosted to lunch by President Buhari on his one-day visit.
