President Muhammadu Buhari will on Tuesday, May 29 make a national broadcast to the nation as part of activities to commemorate the 2018 Democracy Day.

Mr Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, announced this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.

Adesina advised television and radio stations to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Radio Nigeria for the broadcast at 7 a.m.

Issues to be addressed by the president were not stated his spokesman but Aso Rock sources said the national broadcast will not only centre on the desirability of democracy but would dwell on the achievements of the Buhari government.

“We believe this government has done very well in the circumstance, the national broadcast will afford the President the opportunity to present his scorecard for the past three years in the areas of security, economy, food security and diversification of the economy.

“We make bold to say that the Buhari government more than any past government has done very well to empower more Nigerians in non-oil sectors like agriculture. Many Nigerians are now millionaires by virtue of their taking to farming which is directly linked to the encouragement from this government”, the source said.

Another area to be addressed by President Buhari is security. Though there has been high rate of bloodletting in the country especially by killer herdsmen in north central states, the aides of the President still argue that security has improved under this government.
