Bauchi Police arrest serial kidnapper, urges vigilance during Sallah

police logoBauchi police command has arrested a notorious serial kidnapper in the state, one Yakubu Abdulhamid,  50 years old man of Jebere village in Nabordo district of Toro LGA of Bauchi State.  The command also warned of the infiltration of the state a group of kidnappers who specializes in kidnapping children for ransom, urging residents to be security-conscious during the Sallah celebrations.

A statement issued by the command read:

“This is to inform the general public that intelligence report at our disposal revealed that some undesirable elements who infiltrated the State are planning to kidnap under age children for ransom or other motives.

“ Against this backdrop, the Command urges members of the public especially parents and guardians to monitor their children and be security conscious by paying special attention to strangers and report suspicious persons or objects within their neighbourhood to the nearest Police Station or through the following emergency number for prompt response 08151849417.

“Finally, the Command assured members of the public that it is fully committed to providing safe and secured environment before, during and after the Eid- El Fitr Sallah Celebration and urged them not to relent in providing useful information that may assist the command in promoting safety and security in the State please.

“Meanwhile, the Bauchi Police Command’s Anti-kidnapping unit has arrested one YAKUBU ABDULHAMID male and 50 years of Jebere village in Nabordo district of Toro LGA of Bauchi State.

“The Suspect and his gang were allegedly behind series of Kidnappings along Nabordo axis. In addition to kidnappings, suspect also mediate and negotiate ransom,dispose cows of victim at a giveaway price and take the proceeds to his gang “on behalf of the victims”.

“A search warrant was executed at his house and one fabricated revolver gun and catridges as exhibits were recovered. The Case under investigation and efforts are ongoing to apprehend his accomplices and bring them to Justice please”.
