The unrelenting militant group, the Niger Delta Avengers, has ruptured the fragile peace in the Delta creeks as the group blew up a crude oil trunkline belonging to the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria in Batan, Warri South West Council Area of Delta State.
The attack followed series of threats by the group that it would continue to unleash pain on the oil and gas sector if the federal government remains recalcitrant in meeting its demands. The attack which time was placed at midnight had the imprint of the militant group. It happened close to the terminal where a similar blow up occurred in the creeks weeks ago.
The attack was confirmed by soldiers and it is coming at a time the global oil market has just shrugged a momentary lull occasioned by the failed coup in Turkey.
