Former vice president and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has congratulated Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his emergence as the standard bearer of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

“Congratulations, @officialABAT, on your emergence as your party’s presidential candidate. It has been a hard-fought contest, but that you prevailed confirms your tenacity.”

Atiku and Tinubu are friends and both have had a running political history spanning decades.

Meanwhile, the search for a running mate to Atiku has hit a crescendo within the PDP with Governor Ifeanyi Okowa among those being highly considered for the position.

Atiku who hosted PDP governors Wednesday was upbeat that the party would choose the best candidate for the top position. The PDP standard bearer who had been waxing confident of victory in 2023 since picking the party ticket said he hoped to unite the party into one formidable front.

He twitted after the meeting: “My meeting with the @OfficialPDPNig Governors’ Forum today gives delightful assurance that the fabric of unity in our party continues to be strengthened. The energy to work together to win the general election and start the work of rebuilding the country is overwhelming.”
