Prof. Mohammed Isah, Chairman, Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), says public officers who do not comply with the bureau’s guidelines will be prosecuted.

Isah, said this at a two-day workshop organised for staff of the National Boundary Commission, on Monday in Abuja.

Represented by Mrs. Fatima Kere-Ahmed, Head of Board Secretariat, CCB, said that the codes which served as a mechanism for self-assessment by public officers must be complied with.

The chairman said that it was important for public officers to get acquainted with the codes, adding that it would assist them to meet up with public expectations, scrutiny and evaluation.

“We are mostly known as an organisation that administers assets declaration forms, but we do more than that.

“There are 14 codes of conducts expected of public officers which assets declaration is only one aspect of the codes.

“I want public officers to get acquainted with these codes because ignorance of the law is not an excuse.

“Once you fail to abide by the codes, we will not relent in prosecuting you,” he said.

On his part, Mr. Adamu Adaji, Director-General, National Boundary Commission (NBC), appreciated the Bureau for providing a practical guide on how to fill the assets declaration forms.

Adaji, represented by Mrs. Aisha Abdullahi, Director of Administrations, NBC, also urged the participants to ensure they complied with the codes of conduct for public officers.(NAN)
