Asagba Hinges Support for Jonathan on Implementation of National Confab Report

Admin March 18, 2015

asagba1The Asagba of Asaba, Obi (Prof) Chike Edozien, has hinged the support of Anioma people for President Goodluck Jonathan on his promise to implement the report of the national conference especially, on restructuring the federal system of the country.

Prof. Edozien who is the paramount monarch of Asaba Kingdom, said the people of Delta North Senatorial District of Delta State have implicit confidence that President Goodluck Jonathan will ensure greater stability and development in the country by eliminating some of the unitary structures and structural imbalances that were introduced in the federal system of government by the prolonged years of military rule in Nigeria.

In a statement issued in his palace yesterday, the spokesman of Anioma Congress, Sir Dan Okenyi said “The various nationalities in the country which have been clamouring for a restructuring of the Federation have every reason to support the work which the delegates to the conference have started”.

He said, “The Asagba believes that “the energy and resources expended to host such a landmark conference should not be allowed to be wasted by voting into power a political party that does not align its campaign with the yearnings of the people”.

He said, “as a people, we should not create the impression that we do not know what we want or that all is well with this federation called Nigeria, after the unfortunate intervention of the military Junta”.

While welcoming the Labour Party’s adoption of President Goodluck Jonathan as its presidential candidate, Prof. Edozien said the party should extend such gesture of support to the PDP Governorship candidate in Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa in the April 11, 2015 Governorship election.
