The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has rejected the newly released State Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) list, citing severe breaches of party guidelines, lack of consultation, and the deliberate exclusion of key party officials.
In a joint statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, Osun APC Publicity Secretary Mr. Wole Adunola disclosed that the decision to reject the composition of the council stems from its failure to reflect due process, inclusiveness, and respect for established party structures.
Adunola highlighted that several statutory members of the State Working Committee were improperly omitted from the roster, raising serious concerns over internal democracy and organizational transparency.
“Of particular concern is the omission of several members of the State Working Committee who, according to applicable guidelines, are expected to be statutory members of the council,” Adunola stated. He emphasised that the State Executive Committee remains integral to the APC’s organisational framework and must not be sidelined.
The state chapter also raised questions regarding how the new list aligns with an earlier presidential directive that reportedly designated Governor Ademola Adeleke as the Director-General of the campaign in the state. Following that directive, Governor Adeleke had already inaugurated a broad-based campaign team to coordinate President Bola Tinubu’s presidential campaign across Osun.
Adunola noted that the sudden emergence of a parallel structure without proper clarification or alignment with existing arrangements has created unnecessary confusion. He suggested that the controversial list might have been mistakenly intended for a Parliamentary Campaign Council rather than the PCC.
“If the newly released list was intended to serve as a Parliamentary Campaign Council rather than the PCC, its composition would be more understandable,” he said, warning that clear distinctions must be drawn to prevent overlapping responsibilities and internal friction.
Demanding an immediate review, Adunola urged the party’s leadership to initiate comprehensive consultations with key stakeholders, including the APC National Secretary, Senator Surajudeen Basiru, and the State Director-General, to rectify the discrepancies.
While reaffirming the Osun chapter’s unwavering commitment to President Tinubu’s electoral goals and the party’s overall success, Adunola cautioned that loyalty should not preclude constructive feedback when party cohesion is threatened.
“A successful campaign must be built on mutual respect, proper coordination, and the active involvement of legitimate party stakeholders,” Adunola added, urging both national and state party leaders to address the grievances promptly to ensure a united front ahead of the elections.
