A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Muiz Banire,

A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Muiz Banire, has advised the Federal Government to take proactive steps toward putting a stop to the rapid closure of industries.

Banire, who is the National Legal Adviser of APC and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

He said that the call became necessary in view of the fact that the rapid closure of industries was increasing unemployment levels in the country.

“Where we are now, is not the best. We are not at the ideal situation.

“We need to get to the ideal where our people would be happy and comfortable but we are not there.

“To do that, everybody is working assiduously but that is not sufficient. We need the blessing of God to be able to reach our destination.

“Well they have to be proactive. One of the things I expect is that as a matter of urgency, they (government) must stop closure of industries and companies for whatever reason.

“Even if they owe, we must find a way of sustaining those industries.

“Secondly, you must make the environment conducive to businesses.’’

He urged those occupying public offices to be accountable to the people.

Banire, a former Commissioner for Environment in Lagos, also advised Nigerians to make integrity and patriotism their watchword if they want the country to move forward.
