The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Wednesday quizzed the Managing Director of the Assets Management Company of Nigeria, AMCON), Mr. Ahmed Kuru, over allegations of corruption.

He was said to have spent the night at the agency. An EFCC official confirmed the invitation to Kuru and his detention at the commission but “only for purposes of interrogation.”

The AMCON boss was alleged to have diverted and sold some assets to his friends, fronts and family members all at below value prices.

While AMCON officials insist their boss went to EFCC for a routine meeting, an EFCC official said he was invited to clear the air on some assets.

It was learnt that several petitions had been sent to the anti-graft agency regarding alleged unwholesome and opaque manner assets were being sold by AMCON. Kuru is doing his second term at the asset management company having been reappointed by President Buhari.
