Again, Senate Constitutes Another Committee to Review the Constitution…46 Senators to Tinker the Document

saraki and ekweremaduIn a way that makes mockery of legislature and law-making, the Senate President Bukola Saraki Wednesday in concert with the Senate leadership inaugurated yet another Constitutional Review Committee. The Committee was set up to review the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This makes it the third attempt by the National Assembly to review the Constitution. Recall that the sixth Assembly under the leadership of Senator Anyim Pius Anyim did attempt to review the Constitution in 2003.

Senate President Bukola Saraki in his speech pointed out that this 8th Senate will not maintain the status quo of past Assemblies of redundancy. He also assured all Nigerians that the Constitutional Review Committee will deliver accordingly in its duties.

The Senate President urged all members of the Constitutional Review Committee to ensure that they put in their best to their assigned duties.

Members of the Constitutional Review Committee are as follows:
