Adamawa will sustain N10,000 monthly allowance to corps members – Fintiri

Admin July 2, 2024

Governor Fintiri

Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa has pledged to sustain the payment of N10,000 monthly allowance to corps members deployed to the state.

He also promised to introduce the payment of N20, 000, at the end of each service year, to the corps members that served as teachers.

Fintiri said this at the swearing-in ceremony of the 2024 Batch B Stream ‘1’ orientation course for corps members deployed to Adamawa at Damare orientation camp, Girei Local Government Area on Tuesday.

He told the corps members that the orientation exercise was a golden opportunity, hence the need to make full use of it.

He advised them to accept their postings in good faith, saying that Adamawa is one of the peaceful states in the country with peace-loving and accommodating citizens.

The governor assured the corps members of their safety and security and enjoined them to do their part by following the security guidelines.

In his remarks, Mr Mohammed Ahmad, the NYSC Adamawa Coordinator, charged the corps members to take all the camp activities seriously for a successful service year.

He advised them to respect their uniforms and resist the temptation of improper dressing as anyone caught would be sanctioned.

He said that the corps members would be planting no fewer than 15,000 trees in the state before the end of the rainy season, as part of the contribution of the scheme in addressing global warming.

Ahmad appreciated Gov. Fintiri for his support to corps members serving in the state.

Justice Hafsat Abdulrahaman, Chief Judge of the state, who administered the oath of allegiance, urged the corps members to serve honestly and faithfully as Nigerians.

She charged them to have a positive attitude and be committed wherever they would be posted.

She also urged them to shun all vices including bribery and corruption during and after the service year.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 1,023 corps members comprised of 448 females and 575 males had registered to serve in the state.

The governor also donated two cows and 10 bags of rice to augment the feeding in the camp. (NAN)
