March 25, 2025

Gov. Alex Otti of Abia, has lifted the 10-year embargo on promotion of staff of Dr Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic (formerly Abia Polytechnic) Aba, by the previous administration in the state.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ukoha Njoku, disclosed this in a statement, in Umuahia on Tuesday.

Njoku said that the governor also approved the release of all accumulated promotions of the staff of the institution.

He said that governor further abolished the “National Promotions” practice in the polytechnic.

He added that the polytechnic staff appreciated the governor for living up to his promise of defraying the 33 months arrears of salaries owed them by the immediate past administration.

“They also thanked him for implementing regular payment of their salaries as and when due and putting infrastructures and measures in place to upgrade the standard of the institution,” Ukoha said.
