Top Employers Institute, a global organisation dedicated to enriching the world of work, and connecting Top Employers throughout the world, has announced that 195 organisations have made its Africa’s Top Employers for 2019 list.

According to the institute, organisations certified as Top Employers dedicate themselves to providing the very best working environment for employees through their progressive ‘people-first’ HR practices.

CEO Top Employers Institute, David Plink says, “We believe that the 2019 certified organisations demonstrate exceptional employee conditions and encourage the development of these practices by putting their people first. These companies help enrich the world of work with their outstanding dedication to HR excellence and because of this, they are recognised as an employer of choice”.

Country Manager, Top Employers Institute Africa, Billy Elliott, says that the Certification provides employers with an important quality metric that enables them to position their brands more effectively in the attraction, retention and engagement of top talent. “The Top Employers Institute is not just about certifying Africa’s Top Employers. We have seen a progression of HR in Africa over the last few years and it is our role to empower and advance people strategies across the world. We are driven not just to certify but to benchmark and connect outstanding employers around the world,” he said.

209 organisations in Africa officially registered to participate in this year’s Certification Programme. 195 organisations spanning 31 African countries and 23 industry sectors achieved the Top Employers 2019 Certification. 99 certified organisations will carry the South African Certification, while 96 certified Top Employers from other African countries outside of South Africa have also been certified.
