FAKE STORY: Lagos APC accuses Sahara Reporters of deliberate misinformation

The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) wishes to address and firmly refute the claims contained in a Sahara Reporters publication alleging that party delegates from Lagos State were stranded due to a failure to release mobilisation funds.

First, we categorically state that Lagos State delegates were not stranded at any airport or motor park. On the contrary, all duly accredited delegates were transported to Abuja in an orderly, coordinated, and comfortable manner, with arrangements that ensured their convenience throughout the journey. Upon arrival, decent and adequate accommodation was provided, clearly putting a lie to the sensational claims in the said report.

Secondly, we reiterate that neither the Lagos State Government nor Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is responsible for funding party activities. The APC, as a political organization, independently manages its logistics and finances through its established party structures. Any attempt to attribute internal party processes to the state government is misleading and deliberately intended to confuse the public.

Furthermore, the public should take note of a pattern of misinformation associated with the publisher of the report. It has been consistent in promoting falsehoods and unverified claims designed to mislead unsuspecting members of the public for ulterior purposes.

It is therefore not surprising-indeed, it is laughable- that such a story would emanate from a platform whose publisher is also an opposition figure holding multiple roles within his party, including Chairman, Presidential Candidate, and Treasurer – a configuration that raises serious questions by the standards of modern democratic practice.

We urge members of the public to approach sensational headlines with caution, carefully scrutinize their sources, and rely on credible, verified information.

The Lagos APC remains focused on strengthening party unity and continuing its support for good governance in Lagos State and Nigeria at large.
