…Says God ordained Oborevwori to govern Delta

Immediate past governor of Delta State and one of the core leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, has said that the presidential candidate of the party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, are best suited to reset Nigeria and return the country to the path of sustainable economic growth and relevance in the global stage.

Uduaghan made the assertion in his Warri GRA residence on Monday at a meeting with members of Delta PDP Campaign Council Management Committee, led by the State Campaign Director, Rt Hon Solomon Funkekeme, saying that the nation’s multifaceted socioeconomic and infrastructure development deficit can only be properly addressed and solved by experienced and patriotic leaders.

He noted that both Atiku and Okowa are great national patriots with high integrity earned over the years in public service and political leadership spanning over two decades and counting, with excellent knowledge of the multifaceted economic, insecurity and infrastructure challenges, and as such will be able to adequately deploy their wealth of experience to return Nigeria to a new era of economic boom and prosperity.

The former governor of Delta State, called on all PDP leaders and members in the State, and across the country to vote Atiku-Okowa ticket, saying that their candidacy is best suited for Nigeria, at this highly complicated and worrisome trying times in our nation’s history.

Uduaghan disclosed that Delta State and indeed Nigeria will benefit immensely if PDP and its candidates become victorious in the forthcoming 2023 general elections, pointing out that Nigerians are in pains and frustrated as a result of acute poverty, hunger duo to  mismanagement of the productive sectors of the nation’s economy by the federal government.

In the same vein, Uduaghan who is fondly called “Asamaigor” due largely to his high sense of humour and consummate leadership, asserted that God has ordained the Governorship candidate of PDP in Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, to govern the state after the tenure of incumbent governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, adding that it will be politically naive and spiritually suicidal for anybody to go against the wish of the supreme God of the entire universe.

He urged the campaign council management committee and the entire party structures in the state to mobilize heavily for the landslide victories of Atiku-Okowa and Sheriff-Onyeme, as well as all candidates of the party in the next general actions.

Uduaghan urged party candidates and the campaign council management committee to remain united and to reach out to all former. aspirants by visiting them and appealing to each and everyone of  them to collapse their structures for the party’s foreseeable overwhelming electioneering victories in 2023.

“I wish to thank members of the state campaign management committee for this visit. Ordinarily, it’s not necessary because I am one of the founding fathers of this party, but all the same, I appreciate all of you for coming to brief me on the committee activities so far.

“For the first time, Delta got the Vice Presidential ticket of our great party through the visionary leadership of the incumbent governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa. It is indeed a thing of joy for us as Deltans,  and we must be very grateful to God for making it possible for our dear state.

“Okowa is very intelligent, focused, well organized and a smart politician. Of a truth, Delta stand to benefit immensely from his new national assignment by the time he and his boss, Atiku assume office in 2023. We must support and mobilize for the Atiku-Okowa ticket, very important.

“As for our incoming governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, I believe strongly that God, indeed ordained him to lead us from May 29, 2023 to 2031. I say so because God gave him the uncommon grace and showered His mercies on him, and he survived all odds and  has keenly demonstrated sufficiently that he’s capable, competent, willing and well prepared to govern the state without blemish.

“I wish to appeal to all aggrieved former  aspirants and leaders across board, including our dear Olorogun David Edevbie, to sheath their swords, quash all pending legal battles in Court and collapse political structures to ensure the landslide victories of PDP and her candidates next year,” Uduaghan said.

Earlier, the state Director of PDP campaign Council Management Committee, Rt Hon Solomon Funkekeme, said the visit was to brief the former governor on the activities and success of the committee since inception and to also tap from the reservoir of wisdom and knowledge of Dr Uduaghan, who meritoriously governed the state from 2007 to 2015.

He disclosed that the committee is working round the clock to ensure that all aggrieved former aspirants and leaders are reconciled, adding that the reconcilation efforts are still ongoing and deliberately incorporated into the Ward to Ward Campaigns embarked upon by the governorship candidate and the party.

Funkekeme, who was also a Commissioner and member of the State Executive Council under Uduaghan administration, passionately appealed to his boss, the former governor to take a step further by reaching out to some of his loyalists, associates and leaders who are still aggrieved, so that the committee can  achieve more in it’s reconciliation efforts.

He thanked Uduaghan for calming frayed nerves within the party by publicly declaring his unwavering support for the Atiku-Okowa and Sheriff-Onyeme presidential and governorship tickets.

Meanwhile, Olorogun David Edevbie has said that PDP must remain united as one big family. To back his words with action the the former Commissioner of Finance in the state, publicly declared his total support for the candidacy of Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, on Monday at the PDP Ward to Ward campaign in his Afiesere community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.

Edevbie who spoke through one of his closest political associates, Hon Julius Akpovoka at the rally, said he planned to attend the Ward to Ward campaigns in Ughelli North, but had a delayed flight into Osubi Airport.

He promise to call a meeting of his supporters in few days time to collapse his political structures into the state PDP campaign for Atiku-Okowa, Sheriff-Onyeme and all candidates of the party.
