The Delta State Government says it has approved the completion of the second phase of the Stephen Keshi Stadium for the hosting of 2018 Africa Senior Athletics Competition (ASAC) in August.

The state Commissioner for Information, Mr Patrick Ukah, made this known to newsmen on Wednesday in Asaba.

Ukah said the approval was part of the decisions reached at the State Executive Council meeting on Tuesday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the stadium, formerly known as Asaba Township Stadium will host the athletics meet organised by the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA).

He said that the event would unveil the talents that abound in the state and promote sports development at the grassroots.

The commissioner said that the Council also approved the construction of Delta Development and Property Authority Housing Estate Road in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area.

“It approved the construction of Efeizomor II Road, Owa-Alero in Ika North East Local Council; the construction of Main Axial Road in Erowha Community linking Patani to the river in Isoko South Local Council.

“Also approved is the rehabilitation and expansion of access road to Uwvie Modern Market, Ugbolokposo, from PTI Road through Alegbo Road junction to DSC Expressway in Effurun,” the commissioner said.

Ukah said that the state executive council meeting also approved the appointment of Obi Julius U. Enueme, as the Agadagba of Obiava, Adiai Kingdom in Ndokwa West Local Government Area.
