Admin April 4, 2022
Kano

April 4, 2022

A Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Kano on Monday ordered that a 20-year-old man, Nazifi Nura, be remanded in a correctional centre for allegedly raping a 5-year-old girl.

The Chief Magistrate, Auwal Yusuf-Suleiman, ordered that the defendant be remanded in a correctional centre and adjourned the matter until May 26 for further mention.

The accused, who lives at Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano, is standing trial on a one-count charge of rape.

The Prosecution counsel, Mrs Maryam Jibrin, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 2, in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State.

She alleged that on the fateful day at about 11:00a.m., the defendant lured the five-year-old girl into his room and forcefully had sexual intercourse with her.

According to the prosecutor, the offence contravenes the provisions of Section 283 of the Penal Code.

The defendant denied committing the offence. (NAN)
