In a significant milestone, Consumerhalla TV, Nigeria’s Premier consumer advocacy television station, has been launched in Lagos with a commitment to promoting consumer empowerment in Nigeria.

At the formal launch over the weekend, the Chief Executive Officer of Brand Intelligence, the owner of Consumerhalla TV, a consumer-centered digital television platform, Tunde Olufowora, said that the new station will give a voice to over 200 million Nigerian consumers through insightful programming that focuses on consumer rights protection, product reviews, market trends, scam alerts, and expert advice, among others. All these are meant to empower consumers in making decisions and in the enforcement of their rights.

The launch had in attendance corporate executives, top government functionaries, and consumer advocacy groups, which included the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Lagos, Gbenga Omotosho, President, Nigeria Guild of Editors (NGE), Eze Anaba, and a Human rights activist, President/Founder of Consumer Advocacy Foundation and also a Member of the Federal Government’s Consumer Protection Tribunal, Mrs. Sola Salako-Ajulo

Olufowora emphasized at the occasion that the time has come for the Nigerian consumers to take their power back through exposure to consumer education and taking advantage of the medium to enforce their rights. ‘The station is a platform that will fill the gap that presently exists between the Nigerian brands and customers and guarantee mutual benefits, he said.

He added: ‘We are excited to bring to Nigerian viewers a platform that fills a crucial gap in the consumer-brand relationship. Our goal is to arm consumers with knowledge, promote responsible business practices, and foster a fairer marketplace.”

According to him: ‘The consumer-brand relationship ought to evolve beyond mere transactions to a deeper, more personalized connection and relationship, where consumers expect brands to respect their rights and understand their individual needs, preferences, values, and even act as partners. It is akin to giving life to the age-long realization that the consumer is king and always right’.

‘At ConsumerHalla TV, our vision is to create an engagement platform that constantly mirrors the minds of consumers and provides the right connections for meaningful brands in Nigeria. Thus, forming part of the overall vision of our ConsumerHalla brand – “Creating a more caring world of consumers where businesses thrive’.

‘The mission of ConsumerHalla TV is to educate, inform, and empower Nigerian consumers, promote fairness, transparency, and accountability in the marketplace.

Gbenga Omotosho, described ConsumerHalla TV as an innovative channel that is needed by the government and the citizens in promoting fairness in business relationships and accountability.

He thanked the management of the station for coming up with a platform that will fill a huge education gap in the market and help build awareness for good business ethics.

In her remarks, Mrs Sola Salako-Ajulo said that with ConsumerHalla TV, Nigerian consumers now have an additional platform to enforce their rights and get value in their relationship with brands.

The NGE President, Mr. Eze Anaba commended Olufowora for his vision ‘to enrich the media industry with a medium dedicated to the special needs of all of us’, describing the mandate of ConsumerHalla TV as very responsive and desirable at the stage of our national development’.

ConsumerHalla TV will regularly bring to the audience relevant consumer and market information, market intelligence, issue resolutions, public opinions, while setting the right agenda and providing a credible platform for development within the consumer world.
