School in Anambra State has emerged overall best in Nigeria, while the State received eight other awards across various categories at the 2025 President’s Teachers and Schools Excellence Awards.

Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, State Commissioner for Education made the announcement on Monday in Awka.

The award ceremony took place on Sunday at the Eagle Square, Abuja, where the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa, presented prizes to the winners.

Chuma-Udeh said that Woliwo Primary School II, Onitsha, emerged the overall best school in Nigeria, receiving a 16-seater bus as the star prize.

She commended the schools and educators for their resilience, hard work, and commitment to excellence.

Reacting to the milestone, the Wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, congratulated the schools and teachers for once again making the state proud.

Soludo in a statement on Monday described the achievement as proof of Anambra’s leadership and investment in quality education.

She said education is the backbone of Anambra’s human capital master plan, adding that the Dubai Taiwan journey begins in the classroom.

“I’m super excited to learn that Anambra won nine historic awards at the 2025 President and Schools Excellence.

“These great awards represent the fruits of Gov. Chukwuma Soludo’s investments in the education sector.

“The 2025 budget allocated 101 per cent of total spending to the sector, representing the highest allocation among all sectors.

“The rewards are evident, thanks to clear vision and intentional effort. Congratulations to Anambra students and teachers. May your flame of glory take you farther than it already has,” she said.(NAN)
