The Nigerian Army says its troops have neutralised 10 terrorists, apprehended nine suspects and rescued some kidnapped victims in sustained operations between Aug. 27 and 28.

A reliable source at Army Headquarters told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abuja that the operations were carried out across the North-East, North-West, North-Central, South-East and South-South theatres.

He said that the troops of Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) in the North-East neutralised seven terrorists during a clearance operation at Banki in Bama Local Government of Borno.

He added that two terrorists were neutralised in Kawuri village, Konduga Local Government and one in Damboa Local Government.

The source added that troops apprehended three terrorist logistics suppliers in Magumeri and Nganzai local governments in Borno, and captured items from the suspects.

According to him, troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA in the North-West apprehended four suspects around Kurmin Mashi, Unguwan Shanu and Abakpa communities in Kaduna South Local Government of Kaduna State.

He added that troops deployed for internal security operations in the South-South rescued a kidnapped victim along Ubiaja–Ekpon road in Esan South East Local Government of Edo.

“In South-East, troops on routine stop-and-search in Nkwerre Local Government of Imo, arrested a suspected member of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

In the North-Central, he said the troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) facilitated dialogue with Miyetti Allah and Fulani leaders in Mangu Local Government of Plateau, leading to the recovery of a police AK-47 rifle.

He said that the rifle had earlier been stolen by unidentified gunmen at Ajing community.

According to him, the army is determined to ensure that peace, security and stability stabilise across the country.

The source said that the troops had sustained momentum in synergy with sister agencies and local vigilantes to tackle terrorism and all forms of criminality in the operation zones. (NAN)
