The Forward Operating Base (FOB) Escravos of the Nigerian Navy has deactivated four illegal refining sites in Warri South-West Local Government in Delta.

Navy Capt. Ikenna Okoloagu, the Commanding Officer of the FOB, Escravos disclosed this to newsmen on Wednesday in Warri.

Okoloagu said that the illegal refining sites were deactivated on Wednesday at Obodo in Omadinho Community.

He said that the sites were laden with about 2,500 litres of stolen crude and 2,200 litres of illegally refined Automotive Gasoline Oil (AGO).

Okoloagu added that the products were contained in five ovens, 11 dug out pits and 25 polythene sacks.

He said that successful operation was in line with the ongoing Operation DELTA SANITY II, adding that it was based on credible information.

“The Nigerian Navy’s fight against crude oil theft, pipeline vandalism and other acts of economic sabotage yielded result again on Wednesday.

“The FOB, Escravos discovered and deactivated four illegal refining sites at Obodo in Omadinho Community, Warri South- West.

“The sites are laden with about 2,500 litres of stolen crude oil and 2,200 litres of illegally refined AGO contained in 5 ovens, 11 dug out pits and 25 polythene sacks,” he said.

Okoloagu warned the would-be economic saboteurs in the oil sector to desist from illegal acts, declaring that anyone caught would face the wrath of the law.

He also stressed that the Base would continue to deny the perpetrators the freedom to execute their nefarious activities within its areas of responsibilities. (NAN)
