Nigerian tech whiz nominated Cybersecurity Personality of the Year in UK

Admin January 28, 2025

Dr Fene Osakwe

Chairman/CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has felicitated with Dr Fene Osakwe, a Nigerian cybersecurity expert, on his groundbreaking nomination as the Cybersecurity Personality of the Year in the UK.

Dabiri-Erewa’s felicitations are contained in a statement by Mr Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit at NiDCOM.

The statement quoted Dabiri-Erewa as congratulating Osakwe in a congratulatory message, which described the prestigious recognition as a testament to his exceptional contributions to cybersecurity.

“As the first African to be nominated for this award, Osakwe’s accomplishment inspires Nigerians and Africans around the world,” she stated.

Dabiri-Erewa expressed how proud she is to see a Nigerian excel globally, demonstrating that Nigerians can compete and excel at the highest levels.

The NiDCOM boss added “We are delighted to see Dr Fene Osakwe’s hard work and dedication recognised in this way.

“His achievement is a shining example of the talent and expertise that Nigerians possess, and we look forward to celebrating his success.

The statement expressed NiDCOM’s felicitations with the Osakwe family and friends, as well as his colleagues.

The award, instituted in 2014, recognises outstanding individuals, teams, and organisations within the global cybersecurity sector.

Osakwe is the sole African nominee in this category competing alongside leaders from 11 other countries.

He is a multi-award global-winning cybersecurity professional, career mentor, and best-selling author.

The award ceremony, scheduled to take place in March, will be attended by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Stammer, further underscoring the significance of this achievement. (NAN)
