The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the September 21 governorship election in Edo State, Dr Asue Ighodalo, has sent a heartfelt congratulatory message to Prof Usunobun Osunomena, a distinguished Professor of Biochemistry at the Edo State University, Uzairue, Edo State.

Ighodalo, who is considered the frontrunner in the coming election, described the selection as a well deserved honour in a statement by his media team in Benin City on Monday.

According to the statement, Ighodalo also expressed “happiness over the recognition of a worthy son of the state.”

Ighodalo said, “Prof Usunomena is a worthy son of Edo state who has distinguished himself as a professor of Biochemistry and meritorious service to mankind especially in the academic community, imparting knowledge and raising leaders of tomorrow.

“I am proud of his achievements in his field of profession, particularly, the contributions he has made towards the development of science which stands him out for recognition by a reputable body as the Nigeria Science Leadership Programme (N-SLP).

“This is a recognition well deserved and I hope this will spur you to greater heights and serves as inspiration and encouragement to our younger ones in the science world in Edo State to pursue excellence, knowing fully well that there’s a place for recognition and rewards in the long run.”

The distinguished professor of biochemistry, Usunobun Usunomena was meritoriously selected as a fellow of the N-SLP in an announcement made through a letter by Dr. Connie Nshemereirwe, the Director, Africa Science Leadership Programme.
