PDP momentum in Edo

PDP momentum in Edo

By Kingsley Ohens

A day after Benin City centre was literally shut down by thousands of organic supporters of Dr Asue Ighodalo, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the September 21 governorship election in Edo State in a solidarity rally, Igueben, the administrative headquarters of Igueben LGA, Edo Central, has been brought to a standstill as thousands dumped their parties for Ighodalo and the PDP.

Most of the defectors, identified as staunch supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Labour Parties (LP ) and other fringe parties dumped those parties and declared for the PDP “because the candidate, Ighodalo, has what it takes to lead the state, he is credible, he is not fake and has shown the vision and determination to lead the state,” one of the leaders of the defectors, Hon Sylvanus Igbogbo from Ekpon Ward, declared.

Other leaders of the defectors include Ayemhenre Obehi, Azamegbe Paragon and Enemiye Mike.

They were followed by their teeming supporters thus bolstering the party’s strength in the local government area.

Dr. Ighodalo welcomed the defectors, appreciating them for their recognition of the truth, light and fairness. He assured them that he would not fail or disappoint them.

This massive defection is seen as a significant boost to Ighodalo’s governorship campaign, solidifying his position as a frontrunner in the upcoming election.
