Over 1,080 pilgrims from about 10 countries have been reported dead during this year’s Hajj with most of the deaths induced by heatwave.
This is despite the robust safety valves put in place by Saudi authorities.
Reports quoting diplomatic sources said some of the deceased were undocumented pilgrims.
Hajj authorities said that out of the 658 deaths from Egypt, a good 630 pilgrims were undocumented. Nigeria is among that lost their citizens during this year’s Hajj.
Saudi authorities attributed the high toll to the heatstroke that persisted during the Hajj.
