Edo 2024: PDP youths visit Ighodalo, pledge support

Admin April 6, 2024

A coalition of youth organizations of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, under the aegis of the Patriotic Nigeria Youth Movement (PNYM), on Friday paid a solidarity visit to Dr Asue Ighodalo, the party’s gubernatorial candidate in Benin City.

Led by its National Coordinator, Comrade City Kelvin Eferusuoa and National Secretary, Comrade Andy Owen, the group declared its total support for the aspiration of Ighodalo, vowing to work assiduously for his victory in the September election.

Speaking on behalf of the representatives of the various groups, Comrade Eferusuoa, who hails from Ofunama in Ovia South West Local Government Area of the state, asserted that the mission of the coalition was to ensure total victory for the party and Ighodalo at the poll.

He said that the youth body noted with joy that the party’s flag bearer towers far above the rest candidates, thereby making the job of canvassing votes for him easier. He, however, affirmed that the youths, especially those who are already PDP members will not become complacent because of the love the people has for him.

“As you can see, I am here with executives of many youth groups in our party under the umbrella of the Patriotic Nigeria Youth Movement (PNYM). We are happy to note that our candidate is the best among the lot. Even the opposition knows that. Our candidate is highly compassionate. Talk of competence, he is the most competent of the lot; talk of track record, he is far above all of them; look at his pedigree; talk of capacity; and then he is a man of immense character. We are determined and committed to working with him to ensure that he is victorious in the election and the party remains in Government House. We know he is the best, but we will not take anything for granted. We have mobilized our members in the various council areas, wards and the units for the purpose of his election as the governor of Edo State in the September poll,” he assured.

Responding, Asue Ighodalo’s Adviser, Hon Peter Aguele, who welcomed the youths on behalf of the party’s gubernatorial hopeful, expressed happiness that the group has demonstrated loyalty to the party and made the right decision by identifying with the best candidate. He assured that Ighodalo would work with them and would not disappoint nor let anyone down once elected as governor of the state.

“Dr Asue Ighodalo is absolutely delighted that you are here. First, for your continued loyalty and commitment to the party, and secondly for finding him worthy of your support. He wants me to assure you that he would not disappoint or let any Edolite down as governor of the state. So, we are looking forward to working with you to achieve the goal of being victorious at the poll, come September,” he assured them.

Other advisers who also welcomed the enthusiastic group include Hon Ose Anenih and Hon Wilson Ighodalo.
